Gemini, the crypto asset exchange founded by the Winklevoss Twins, has become the first exchange to partner with Samsung, the companies announced on Thursday. Samsung will be integrating Gemini in the Samsung Blockchain Wallet, allowing users to transfer their holdings from gemini into self-custody. Gemini Announces Collaboration With Samsung Blockchain Wallet When Samsung revealed that its newest Galaxy Series will come with integrated cryptocurrency support, many saw this as a major move for the industry. With one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world providing devices to millions of people that come equipped to store digital assets, the industry was anticipating a massive rise in usage. However, while there is still a long way to go for every Samsung user to become an avid digital asset supporter, the company is surely turning more and more towards facilitating digital asset usage. This culminated when the tech giant revealed that it is collaborating with Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss. According to the company’s press release, Gemini will power the Samsung Blockchain Wallet and bring crypto to the fingertips of Samsung Blockchain Wallet users in the United States and Canada. Buying, Selling, and Trading Crypto From the Samsung Blockchain Wallet The integration with Samsung’s native blockchain wallet made Gemini the first U.S. exchange to collaborate with the tech giant. “We are proud to be working with Samsung to bring crypto’s promise of greater choice, independence, and opportunity to more individuals around the world,” said Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini. “Now, Samsung Blockchain Wallet customers can buy digital assets in a simple, elegant and secure way on Gemini.” Users will be able to connect their Samsung Blockchain Wallets to Gemini and buy, sell, and trade digital assets directly from their phones. Gemini Custody, the exchange’s patented custody solution, will also enable users to transfer their crypto into cold storage. Gemini integration, however, won’t be available for all Samsung phones. The company said that the Gemini Mobile App and the Samsung Blockchain Wallet will be available for the Galaxy S20 Series, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Note 10 Series, Galaxy Fold, and the Galaxy S10 series. It is still unclear which cryptocurrencies will be supported on the Wallet App. While Samsung initially rolled out the app with support only for Ethereum, it soon expanded to support Bitcoin, and various other small tokens such as COS, the native digital asset of the COS.TV platform.
